I'm trying to figure out how to get to Montana and go fishing for the first week of July. I just need to work out the business end (might need to close our business for a week) and get someone to feed our animals. We only have a small window to plan something with our son because he has plans this summer (like every summer) thanks to his grandparents taking him on some cool trips.

I've always wanted to go fly fishing in Montana/Idaho,, It's like trout heaven!! :-D

I just got back from 21 days on a river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam.. It was awesome.

I followed your photo tour on FB, Jo. It looked amazing. I hope our trip through the fjords of Norway are just as stunning.

It's so great to unpack and watch the world go by, stop and explore, sample the culture and not get on a bus..
I hate buses .

Thanks for the follow ;-)a

I'm looking at something similar ..Finland, Slovakia, something around the Baltic. I guess I would choose summer

Seems Montana is a popular spot this year... we just had 2 different sets of friends there in the past 2 weeks. We have been before but just not to Glacier National Park. Trying to get another one crossed off our list.

Hope it works out for you:-)

We will eventually end up in Montana (hopefully sooner rather than later). We just need to figure out how to get out of here and how we will earn a living there (we wont be living in a major town).

We are not fly fisherman but I would like to try it at some point. It will be a trip to explore and go fishing where there are no people.
Too many people in my area and it's getting worse every day! :-(

I knew you had gone on the trip from following the WWPW and I'm glad you had an awesome time!

Stina, you do know that they do have real winters in Montana. Hope you can find something out that way. Montana is filling up pretty fast also, depending on the area you would like to go to.ߘ

Yes, those areas have really boomed, along with many others. Montana has definitely undergone some major changes.

I know they have real winters there but we are ready to get out of here and I don't like the heat.
I'm not afraid of dealing with the snow, but I am a little scared to learn to drive in it. We are looking in an area that's located between Ennis, Bute, Threeforks and Bozeman.
Worst case scenario is we retire there but we really want to get there in the next few years and hopefully get our son to come along. I don't want him to waste his life mucking in the traffic and people around here.

We have been looking for a few years from here to Oregon, Idaho and Montana and the people are filling in everywhere.
The people here have exploded in the last year alone and it's not about to get better!

Stina, Bozeman has a wonderful University that you should get your son to look in to.

I would like to get him into school there but he won't be going right into a university. More like a Jr college and welding or lineman school.
He'll be a senior next year so it's coming soon.

Home this evening, now ready to hit the hay. We had a wonderful time....boy Montana is gorgeous!

Here is a big old boy leading a line of cars. Then he walked right over to my car & peeked in the window at us.....it was a bit scary & of course I could not roll down the window for pictures but it was a fun 5 minutes.

That's pretty cool, Maureen. I would've freaked out, worried that he would scratch my car with those claws!
I have only ever driven through Yellowstone on my way to Ennis, MT (a friend lives there) and what stood out to me there was the traffic. I was surprised at the amount of people and the buses!

July & August are peak months for GlacierNP so we went early. THE pass through the park opened 2 days before we left so we were grateful to get to drive it... just stunning. There weren’t really a whole lot of people there yet but still plenty enough for me.

It's nice when you can get ahead of the people. We will be going to Montana this weekend for almost a week. We will be going to Virginia City, Ennis and Cardwell. Going to see the fireworks in Virginia City and possibly take in a small rodeo somewhere and fish. Looking forward to getting away from here. :-)
