Ooops, STINA, I also wanted to mention your Pismo pictures; wonderful!! I love the coast & I especially liked the one of your son watching the little tern. :)

Good to hear from all of you. Sounds like you might be feeling better Levina, that's good. Looking forward to seeing the panorama if you get the chance to post.
Glad you didn't get hit too hard with weather blinkeredfilly.
Penel, I'm sorry to hear about Barley. I don't know what to say about that, it sucks when we can't do more for our loved ones.
Thanks for the compliment on the picture.
I am way behind on my chores, so today is chore day. Tomorrow another branding. I enjoy the brandings, but hate pulling by but out of bed early. Oh, well.
Talk to you all soon.

So, I have one more question for you all. Have you downloaded some actions into your editing programs to enhance your pictures and if so, which ones? I love editing so much more now that I have a handful of fun tools to use. And I love my photos more now that I can push them to the next level.
I would be interested in hearing what programs you use for editing & what actions you have downloaded.

Thanks Levina and Maureen. Nice picture Maureen. Going from babies to seniors, what a jump. Enjoy the grandsons Maureen.

I downloaded the free MCP mini clicks. The only one I have used from that is one called "remember when" I am using LR3 and find it a challenge to find presets I want for this version. I keep looking once in a while. I guess I will upgrade to LR4 at some point?
I am also curious about how others edit. I just started editing this winter.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I've been ill for 28 years and have good and bad periods. So when I'm absent it's usually my health. It sucks, but I've gotten to terms with it long time ago, so I'm okay, not to worry.

I like your high school girl shots, Maureen. Especially the one on the train. That was very symbolic and well, very very nice. And like Stina I think it was, said, very age appropriate. A good point that, as I sometimes see these shots done in a way that I feel is not entirely proper. Your shots show good taste. I like that.

Penel, I know what it means to have a seriously ill dog. I've been there a few times. I so hope he pulls through.

Seems that now I am the only one active! :) Well, you asked, so here are a couple of Stork shots.

Landing on the nest

The bonding ritual with a throwing back of the head and a loud clattering of the beak

And this is a pano showing their location, smack in the middle of the park. I tried to make a pano with the help of that filter I talked about earlier, but it wouldn't correct the distortion here. The path should be horizontal, not bent. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but for now this will have to do and it does give a good idea of the place I think.
As you can see, one of the Storks is on the nest and the bike with the red-and-white bags is mine! :)

Levina, that middle shot is "money"!!
Not only is it crisp with beautiful color, you got some great behavior in that pose..
The pano looks good.. no funny sky bits or other aberrations, nice and smooth.

Well it's my weekend off!

Have had the dehydrator running all day making some beef jerky, and have boiled down the beginnings of my maple syrup. The day hasn't warmed up much, so the trees are running slow today.

Niece and nephew are coming over this afternoon to spend the night. Elizabeth has a new swimming suit and wants to go try it out, so we're going swimming tonight. And my sister just informed me that Austin is becoming obsessed with abandoned buildings, and wants to go take pictures of them. So we'll have to plan a road trip someday to go see some of the abandoned farm houses around here. I'd love to go explore inside them, but my conscience keeps me out of them. Outside shots only.

Wowee, i agree with Joayne about that 2nd stork shot. Very, very nice.

As for my 'Seniors', I always tell them before the shoot that if they come looking too grungy or over-done (or like a hooker), I will not be pointing my camera at them. I encourage several changes of shirts/dresses, and accessories and try to make the photos fun by picking cool places to use.

Miss Melody, welcome back. We've missed you! Road trips are the best so I will be interested in hearing where you've gone. :)

Well I haven't been anywhere, just haven't had much to talk about. Work has been stealing all my energy, only photography I've done was photograph an improve comedy group at a fundraiser event.

As for road tripping, I've had to fix my truck first, replaced the intake manifold gaskets to get rid of a vacuum leak before I have to get the emissions test done this month. Next project is to replace a wheel bearing and start shopping for tires. Vehicle ownership is not cheap, even when I can do my own work and get all parts at cost.

But if my nephew wants to spend the day with me hunting down abandoned houses, then I'm all for it!

Maureen, I love those 2 senior photos, the train setup is FANTASTIC. My only comment would be to have her sit up a little straighter next time - while she looks relaxed, she also looks a little hunched over. Straightening her shoulders back would probably fix this - I speak from experience, because about every other picture of me has the same problem. :)

Levine, the stork photos are wonderful.

Jill, sounds like you need to make some new friends who own abandoned farmhouses.

A set from today that cracked me up a bit:

Yes, I noticed that, Meg. I have some where she is sitting up better than others. Luckily I am about done with all the PP; I have shoots on Monday & Wednesday next week so I am hoping to get this set done before I have to dig in to the next one.
Today I popped my 135mm lens on my 7D and took it to the ballgame. Now this is a combo that I could fall in love with; I foresee that lens staying on that camera. It was cloudy and thundering during the game but I was happy with the outcome.

Good morning ladies.
I just woke up to a slightly white world. Snow. Winter is back. I'm staying in today that's for sure...

Meghan, those are nice shots. I love that blue water. Looks so Summer like!

Maureen, nice shots. Especially like the shot of Aaron with the intense concentration. Great that you captured that.

And your 135mm. How I long for that lens. Problem is I don't have a good enough reason to buy it! What on earth would I use it for??! I don't shoot people or portraits, no sports. I shoot birds with long glass and take some snapshots on the street with wide glass. I have no use for a 135mm. And yet I want it!

I don't understand. Why does your conscience keep you out of them? They are abandoned, are they not? Or is it illegal to go in for some reason?
