Is anyone using the Lowepro flipside 400AW for a Canon 1D series camera? i need a backpack for my 1D 3 that is deep enough to protect the body, the depth of the flipside 400 is 5.9 ins, around the same height as the 1D body, i could stretch to the flipside 500 that is plenty deep enough, but would welcome any advice.

Itll fit. I had no issues when I had this bag with a gripped 5D. And if the height of the body and the depth of the bag are the same you'll be fine.

Yes it will fit the 1D3. I carry this camera+70-200 and a few more lenses in this bag.
If you're concerning the flashshoe hitting your back, you can turn the camera on its side.
