Hi,

I posted a series of low light images spanning the complete ISO range of the G15 and posted the nine full frame unretouched/unmodified CR2 RAW images in a zip file. For these images I mounted the G15 on a tripod and used the timer mode for each shot so my hand would not cause camera shake. The camera was in ‘P’ mode and the f stop ranged from f1.8 to f2.8. The room was illuminated by a single 100 watt incandescent lamp located across my 15' x 15' room. The AWB was set to auto. I should note that the room was a lot darker than the image makes it appear. Regarding the image file names, the lower the file name, the lower the ISO. For example:

IMG_0073 = ISO 80

IMG_0074 = ISO 100

.

IMG_0081 = ISO 12800

I would appreciate your thoughts on the cameras' performance at the various ISO values. I should add that I am new to Canon. In fact, this is my very first Canon. You can download the zip file (~130 meg) containing these RAW images at:

http://www.zanerian.com/G15.zip (external link)

I also posted the camera’s corresponding unretouched jpg files to the zip file (~27 megs) at the following url:

http://www.zanerian.com/G15jpg.zip (external link)

The image is a reduced dimension jpg from this series taken at ISO 80.

Just got my G15 a couple days ago. Here's a shot I took last night. Sweet camera, this one!

SOOC JPEG. Even with the small sensor, you have to watch your focus when shooting close distances at f/1.8-f/2.8. I love the creative control of this little camera. :D

Larger size available in my Flickr set - Canon G15 test shots.

DCR has test images of the G15 now, as well as P7700 if you are interested in comparing them.

Thank you Riveredger!
I truly enjoyed my G9; there was a stop or so difference in my hands with my G11...you are doing better again!
Perhaps a stop or two?
Looks like a very good choice with ISO 1600 in your hands.
I dabbled with an LX5 for a while... looks like the faster lens is a big help too.
Thanks for posting these.

Hi,

My G15 arrived today and I am very impressed with the build quality as well as the camera's operation. I got home late and did not have time to take many shots. The image shown below is one of the first images I took with the camera. I reduced it in size for posting; however, the link below is the actual unretouched/unmodified image. I will post more after I learn my way around the G15.

Regards,

Joe
