Op
. I love my 7d. And then I bought a 5dii. I was planning to sell the 7d right away. But I couldnt because of those 5d ii disavantages you speak of. But now I am finding myself using the 5d more. I had to adjust and unspoil myself. I am even shooting sports with it. Its more disipline. And I manual focus in low light when the 5d af couldnt. No big deal. The benefit of ff is noticable. I am almost ready to sell my 7d. Go for it.

Why is the AF hard for the stuff you shoot? I don't see anything that moves.:). Just rent 5d and say 24/35L and do the same shots and you will be singing different tune. More money sure. But is only money.:)

It was more accuracy and speed, I remember looking at a 5DII before i bought the 7D (Because i wanted to be sure) but its been 3 years and i barely remember it..

Maybe i should find a 5DII somewhere here and check it out...

Kenji, I have a 50D, and love what I see from the D600. I still feel that I will most likely end up with a 5DII. I have yet to really need more than what my 50D offers other than I wanting a FF. Plus I really want to get more serious in macro, and the MPE-65 has been looking very enticing as of late.

Why not just use the 15-85 at the 15mm end?

Because even at 15, distortion is minimal.
Used to own that little zoom, amazingly useful for crop body.

OP, try the 10-22?

Canon 28mm f/1.8 (For comparison): 1:5.5

Tokina 11-16: 1:11.6
Tokina 12-24: 1:8
Sigma 8-16: 1:7.8
Sigma 10-20 f/3.5: 1:6.6
Canon 10-22: 1:6

For fun, Compare to FF UWAs:

Canon 17-40 f/4L: 1:4
Canon 16-35 f/2.8L II: 1:4.5
Sigma 12-24 II: 1:6.4

That's a very good realization, but I think those are all at the longest focal length. You could probably dig deeper to find out what the max mag is on it's widest setting (for most of them anyway).
Then again, if you're on a tripod and stop down to f/11 or further, you can get quite a bit closer and still have good focus on your foreground.

^- True! I also wonder if its taking the crop factor into account, I know that Olympus lists their Macros and such as 1:2 on the specs, but because of the crop factor they are 1:1 macros....

For fun, i did take my 15-85 and set it at 15 and see what i can do, Quite like the look of 15mm on it and was surprised with how "close" i could get.. I basically redid one of the mum shots at 15 (Of the basket of mums..) I'll post it later (Kinda going to be running to dinner shortly)

Maybe wait, sell the 35mm f/2 and a few things and try to get a Sigma 8-16.. the idea of 13mm is just...Fun sounding..

Seems i liked to keep it between 20-24mm for a lot of shots (Not just these) as i find its giving me the best compositional options...
