They look nice and sharp. I clicked on the images to see larger sizes on Flickr, but it says I don't have permission to view them. It might be helpful to let us see them on Flickr.

Very nice photos. I would wonder what the differences are over a SX40?

Very nice colors and looking sharp. You should try the RAW editing software that came with the camera - DPP. I'm sure it would be better than PSP.

Digital Photo Pro is the very capable RAW developing software that Canon supplied with the SX50 (and every other camera that shoots RAW). What you saw was typical of a RAW image - the camera's LCD preview shows a JPEG thumbnail that's embedded in the RAW file, and applies the same settings that your camera's set to. Most applications' RAW processing doesn't understand the camera presets you use, so the RAW files may look "muddy" or "flat". The whole advantage of RAW is that you can increase (or reduce) contrast, saturation and sharpness as well as adjust exposure, white balance, tone curves and the like after the fact and without affecting the original digital negative.

I have also tried and found that Digital Photo Pro is very slow and not very good color...
