I've been itching to go Full Frame, and folks have suggested I take a look at the D600 and that, I wouldnt do bad switching (Itd probubly end up a wash) but I cant help but feel its hasty or impatient to do so
Dont get me wrong, the D600 looks great... But... I dunno
I consider my FF options, Right now I can do a 5DII, a 6D or a D600..
The 5DII is proven, it still has great IQ, but the AF system bugs me, All I think of is my 30D, and I never really liked the AF in the 30D..
The 6D is an unknown, I've heard good things about the AF, but its not out yet
Either way i lose my flash commander, which i find is very handy to have, So I'd have to buy an ST-E2 or whatever to get that ability back
The D600 is more compelling of an option, But I have to sell all my glass and buy all new glass, And would that new glass be any better? Well the 28mm f/1.8 would be, But the rest of its a wash (I'd also get a 80-200 f/2.8, But I could simply trade my 70-200 f/4L IS for a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS or a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L if i was so keen on that idea)
Do I care about high ISO performance? Not really, I rarely go above 1600 because i dont need to very often, Do I care about banding? Not really, I dont do much where im pushing my shadows the way some people have to for their work..
But that said it comes back to something, The three choices above are what I could do now, but if i had to choose any of the FF DSLRs out there, Id take a 5DIII, I cant explain exactly what it is about the 5DIII that calls to me, maybe its because its a digital version of the best camera I ever owned, my EOS 3.. Maybe because i dont feel like im compromising on anything just to do it -now-
Or maybe im being stupid... you tell me
