I just received a Power Shot SD550 camera for Christmas this year. It has a nice LCD display. I was thinking about loading up movies (saved in *.AVI format) and replaying them on the camera, Kind of Video Ipod.
Yesterday I played with editing/saving movies in avi format and *.tmh files on the memory card but I cannot get the camera to recognize/play the video clips. (I am a computer professional but not a programmer). I Google it and I found some info on this web site but it was old (from oct2003) and nobody was successful in playing back new movie clips. Please help,
thanks

I think Canon's avi is very particular codec. Not a really good idea to editing the movies, unless you know exactly what codec that is, and also parameters like frame size, frames/s, lenght should match.

I have tried for days to do this. I'm pretty sure Canon uses encryption. I have reproduced movies to the n'th detail; correct framerate, time, etc etc and still did not work!!!!!! I have tried editing the hex to no avail...I hope someOne out there comes out with a solution/hack..it would be awesome to have a Canon double-up as a video ipod device. Then again, I will probably just get the iPhone!! WOW!

Canon use a particular MJPEG codec, the camera will only play clips encoded with this codec and the clips are of very limited size. Buy a media player like Zen Vision M or one of those iThings by that fruity company.

Max
There's no such thing as a bad photo, just the wrong audience.
EQUIPMENT: Canon Powershot S3 IS, 2x Transcend 2GB x150 SD, 2x 4GB Class 4 Dane-Elec SDHC, LensMate 52mm Adapter Tube and lots of stuff to hang on it.
A couple of flashes and a couple of strobes. My other camera is a Sony DSC-P200.
