mk3 has a few advantages that are nice.
Less banding - good for pushing shadows a little more
....

Have a source for this? All I have seen calls it a push.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Just from random internets and friends files. No A/B analasys.

IQ isnt something I would buy a 5d3 for.

autofocus - yes even with landscapes its handy at times, as is the 6fps
Better sensor cleaning. 5d2 sucks, 5d3 seems much better.
Spirit level - again not always but it does help especially in low light
Viewfinder grid & bracketing etc.

I would agree with all of this, though I think the reason the Mark III's sensor stays cleaner is probably the better weather sealing. That is one of the features that I found very attractive when upgrading from the Mark II to the Mark III. I often shoot in misty or dusty environments and constantly fretted about protecting my Mark II from the elements. I used to prefer the 7D for the most nasty environments, but now I don't hesitate to bring my main camera wherever I go.

I have really enjoyed having the electronic level on my Mark III. The bracketing is a great bonus, and yes the banding is much improved in the Mark III. Nonetheless, the Mark II served me very well, and I agree with the advice the others have given to invest in lenses first. If you already have the lenses, then you might consider the Mark III instead.
