I hope this is the correct category for my question. I wasn't sure if to post here or accessories, though considering this is the lens section, it seems more appropriate. Forgive me if in error.

I'm searching for filters for my lenses and wondering what the general consensus is regarding brands? Any filter brands I should stay away from as well as those recommended? Hoya? B+W? Tiffen? Others?

Thank you

What do you want filters to do for you?

Basic UV for lens protection but also a circular polarizer for each.

Hoya's Pro-1 series are a good place to start quality-wise. Marumi also make good, inexpensive filters. I assume you already know, but share filters such as CPLs among lenses with the same filter thread size- don't buy multiple copies of CPLs/NDs and so on.

Canon 7D w/grip, Canon SX30 IS (modified for IR), Rokinon 14mm, Canon 24-105 L IS, Sigma 50mm, Canon 70-200 F/2.8 L IS II, Canon 100mm L IS, Kenko 1.4x Pro DG, Canon 2x II extender, Yongnuo YN-565EX, Induro CT414 with Induro BHL-3 and GHB-A

B+W's lineup is highly regarded in these parts

I only use B+W MRC filters. No discernible impact on IQ in any of my shots so far.
