This is probably a flat out stupid question because I think I already know the answer. But, since I've been out of the loop for a while...

Does everyone still like this lens? If I'm going to be doing studio or ourdoor non-action stuff with it, I don't think I need to spend the extra cash on the f/2.8 version. Opinions?

Thanks

Outdoor with good lighting even action shots can be possible.

Have it. Love it. Don't use it enough.

I have a FF camera and would use it as my walkaround lens if it didn't weigh so much with my body. Great lens for a 5D!

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional

If you do not shoot nighttime sports, getting the f/2.8 70-200 would be not the best idea for two reasons
1. far greater EXPENSE to buy than f/4 70-200 and
2. far greater WEIGHT to have to carry around if your needs to not mandate

I love this lens!!! I'm a beginner to dSLR photography (or photography for that matter) and got this as one of my beginner lenses to go with my newly acquired XT which I got this month. I'm impressed with the results I get. Makes it seem like I know what I'm doing. ;) Here's a sample pic from a recent event that I went to (D1GP, Irwindale Speedway, Dec 17).

One of my first panning shots ever.

It also helps in taking pics of the models since that white L is very noticeable. The models pose for you more. Makes me look like I'm a pro photographer or something.
