The Dirty Three @ ATP, Ally Pally, London

incendiary performance by this australian trio...de facto leader Warren Ellis (violin) has been working w/ Nick Cave both as a Bad Seed and with Grinderman for about a decade; drummer Jim White has done a lot of work with both Will "Bonnie Prince Billy" Oldham and Cat Power along with others; guitarist Mick Turner provides all the artwork and has a busy solo career as well. but it all comes together with The Dirty Three, and they were easily the best band of Saturday. I felt bad for headliner Mogwai who had to follow that (they were excellent in their own right).

Great set, was the stage too high for you?

Thanks Richie. It wasn't too bad but this show wasn't in the main hall, but the smaller space just off it. Friday was the only night with shows in the main hall.

Oh, I didn't know they had two places to hold concerts, but its big enough to do so

Such an tricky band to shoot - they always have lousy lighting and they move around so much!! You did well mate
