95% of my shooting is indoors.

the last 5% is outdoors or travel (where the 1ds2 is great)

i could also use the 1ds2 indoors with a speedlight as a very heavy FF "point and shoot"

should i sell it (getting peanuts for it) or just keep it forever?

i'm looking to get a 6D in the future

p.s. ok maybe not peanuts ... but around 1+k. i'm unsure if i'll regret selling it.

Needing high ISO for indoor was one of the main reasons why I sold the 1ds2 and upgraded to the 5d3.

I'm not a professional so my camera is simply an expensive toy for me and I don't sell toys except to support the purchase of nicer toys. If that's what you're looking to do I'd say sell it. If you're not going to use the money to buy something nicer I think you will miss it, which is why I only sell my toys to facilitate buying nicer ones.

swap 1ds2 for 1d3/5d2?

posted it for sale in the local classifieds ...

other than the normal low-blows, i got an offer for a swap to either a 5D2 or 1D3

im not swapping this to a 5D2 (because i already have one, and i actually prefer the 1Ds2 over the 5D2)

i told him NO on the 1D3, but looking back, i'd get the 3" LCD screen (one of my issues) and 6400 ISO

what do you guys think?

should i swap for a 1D3?

If the 1d3 is in good condition you could sell it for approx the same money as your 1ds so you can swap and try and keep if you like or sell if you don't. It seems a win win

I'd rather have a tiny lcd 1ds2 any day instead of a 1dmk3. If you own a 5dmk2 the IQ of the 1dmk3 and limited mega pixels will make you regret going 1dmk3. Only reason i can see you satisfied if your shooting fast frames per second outdoors in non challenging light. The 1ds2 and 5dc is definitely showing its age in ISO performance but the 1dmk3 is not stellar by any means either. The 5dmk2 has set a bar in iso performance for Canon users and if you can handle the 1dmk3's noise you will find it weak compared to your 5dmk2.

Instead of doing an downgrade to a 1dmk3 your real only killer solution is to buy a 5dmk3. Getting a 6d is in some ways a lateral move or downgrade in some respects if your concerned with accurate confident AF in the outer focus points (no cross type outer focus points) and 1/4000 max shutter speeds and sd cards. A good bump in ISO performance to your aging 1ds.

IF... your only worried about low light capabilities indoors the 6d might be a good solution with confident center focus.

I always say, a good camera is a good camera. I own the 5D mkII but always seem to use my 1Ds mkII more. I wouldn't get rid of it.

yeah, i'm thinking the ONLY way up from a 1ds2 is a 5D3 or 1Dx

i'm already decided on getting a 5d3, it's still just a question of keeping the 1ds2 or not

wife says i don't have to wait to sell the 1ds2 to get a 5d3 ... (she'll front me the money)

wth am i doing dragging my feet.
