Oct 10, 2012 06:47 | #5 They are OOF. Sadly I only have a 70-300mm and it's not a L so taking pics at my full zoom is crappy. I can't afford to buy any L series yet. I'm also not good at PP either. Canon 7D MK II, Canon 16-35mm F4L, Sigma 150-600mm Sports, Battery Grip, Jobu Design tripod

I don't remember my settings but it probably was ISO100, F5.6 at 300mm or close to it. It's a heavy crop since it was at the extreme reach for my lens. They were about 30+ feet away Canon 7D MK II, Canon 16-35mm F4L, Sigma 150-600mm Sports, Battery Grip, Jobu Design tripod

But the cropping is definitely a factor. Flickr

jodelak Cream of the Crop More info | Oct 10, 2012 09:41 | #9 I agree with the ID, a rusty blackbird. Your lens is a pretty good lens, I've seen some really good photos from that lens. Since the bird was 30 ft away, it's possible that you just might have missed the focus. Or did you do a noise reduction? That could also make the image soft. But still a good shot, the eyes are visible and colors are ok. ... does it really matter?i see with my eyes, i shoot with my fingers.

Oct 10, 2012 11:23 | #10 I don't do noise reduction at all. Just basically shot and adjust contrast. I've taken some amazing pics with the lens but only when the subjects are within 10 feet of me and I don't have to zoom in all the way. I'm hoping one day to get a L lens.
