First time on the pitch with my 1D3. Reach was a challenge, time for some glass. This thing really grabs some shots though!

(still trying to get ball-on-head shot -- got one in a boys' game this weekend, but was late -- shot was out of focus)

Nice action, especially for your first outing, As my kids have gotten bigger and play on a bigger field, I picked up a 300 f4 and it works quite nicely.

Nice shots!
My U16 daughter was in Austin Labor Day tourny. Played a few Lonestar teams - all were very good.
I have used a 7d with 70-200 2.8 plus a 1.4x but I think I'd prefer the 300mm f4

Great isolation on these! I have shot two college soccer games now, the first with a 300 f4 and the second with a 300 f4 + kenko 1.4 extender both games shot on a 1DmkIII. this body really does love sports! Focus is just as fast with a TC as it is without it.

The only problem I had was being able to keep up with them as theydid not hold on to the ball for very long. Haha. Practice makes perfect!

Thanks for comment and the pointer on the Kenko 1.4 extender focus performance. Certainly in line for consideration.

I'm sure tracking is a lot tougher with that greater reach. Should be fun!

Nice shots. I have a 4 and 5 year old and find that my 70-200 is too short at times even on my 7D. Like Brendo points out, it sure is tough to track them when they're filling up most of the frame!

Great timing on the first one! Love the intensity in her eyes and the tongue out. :D

Thanks :) That one is my daughter, and every shot where she has possession, her tongue is out. I'm just happy to see her head up this year :D
