Hi All,

I have a question on my 60D, that involves mirror lock up, 2sec self-timer and AEB.

If I setup my camera with mirror lock up and AEB for 3 shot HDR, if I then use the 2 second delay for zero camera movement, I would have thought that the logic should be...

press shutter > 2sec delay > Mirror is locked up > shot 1 > shot 2 > shot 3 > mirror back down

but, what seems to happen is...

press shutter > 2sec delay > Mirror is locked up > shot 1 > mirror back down
press shutter > 2sec delay > Mirror is locked up > shot 2 > mirror back down
press shutter > 2sec delay > Mirror is locked up > shot 3 > mirror back down

Have I got this wrong?? Is there any way to have it work scenario 1??

Also, can anybody confirm, can mirror lock-up be saved as a mode C setting?

Basically want crystal clear HDR images, and saving a lockup, 2sec, AEB in mode C seems logical, but still dont want to have to press the shutter 3 times, or change the mirror lock up between C and Av modes.

thanks.

Spend $10 on a remote.

Yes and while you use the remote, have your camera in live view mode to stop the mirror dancing.

Install magic lantern would be my suggestion, although i agree about using a cheap wired remote and LV as well.
In LV the mirror is always up so you dont have to worry about it.
With ML you get a lot more options for this sort of thing, along with more frames when shooting bracketed, it even has a auto setting so the camera works out how many bracketed shots it need to take.
Its free so give it a go :-)

In order to get the three shots without individual shutter release presses the camera has to be in Continuous (burst) mode, not One Shot.

Also, can anybody confirm, can mirror lock-up be saved as a mode C setting?

Yes, but as others have said, Live View is much better than MLU.

LiveView - Doh. {HitsHeadagainstWall} I should have thought of that.

I have a wireless remote - but it still takes 3 presses with mirror lock up hence the question.

Thanks all

Perhaps a wired remote will take care of things
