^^This... or use a brush with lower brightness and paint it over. You needed some fill flash on that one also.

Do you have Lightroom? You could try moving recovery/highlights slider to the left and see if that helps some.

with my normal process:

I would be inclined to do a tighter crop and get rid of it that way.

perhaps a little cloning. just a rough shot - about 3 minutes.

You don't have exposure problem as much as a yellow cast problem.
First correct your yellows by adding some blue (photo filter)...then use shadows/highlights adjustment ......use it on a separate layer and erase whatever you want showing through from the cast correction (the family)
Note these are Photoshop adjustments - not sure about LR.

This is with a tighter crop, some burning, and a blue photo filter. Also I had to fix his foot, it bothered me that I cut it off.

You have bigger problems than the grass; the photo needs serious color correction.

+1 - A tighter crop and some color adjustments will make this photo 10 x better.

Will you please elaborate on the color adjustments? I do not know how to fix the issues.

There seems to be a blue tint (you can see it on the guys face) - A warmer color edit would benefit this capture.

Yes I do see that, although he does look more ghostly on this forum than the version I'm editing. I just don't know how to fix that.
