I have found for myself, that buying the right thing the first time saves a ton of frustration and money.

For me I use a b+w CPL (after using something else and realizing it was ruining my shots) and a lee square filter setup (after using a cokin p sized setup that vignetted at 20mm.) and hitech GND filters which are great for the price but DO cause a color cast.

I haven't used hoya filters, but they get good reviews around here. I cannot dream of loving anything more than my b+w CPL or my Lee filter setup.

I do not use a UV. Not even at the beach...
