I recently shot my first larger wedding. I think I did ok and want to leverage this work to promote myself and get more assignements as much as I can. What are your tips on this ?

So far I'm thinking about delivering the dvd along with some cards and portrait session " discount vouchers " so the bride can hand them out to some friends of hers.

I'm also thinking about making a gallery on Behance of the best ones for easy sharing. I think facebook is a bit to public for their wishes, I don't know.

What am I missing ? Keep in mind I have plenty of time and need to shoot.

Hopefully you did a good job on the wedding and the bride will send you some referrals.

The bride is not going to hand out vouchers on your behalf..

Post sales are tough. Make your money up front ...

I have to agree with Scorpio. If you do a stellar job the Bride will talk you up to her friends getting married. Other couples will see your work and want to book you. Vouchers are good for family portraits but with weddings they are hit and miss.

You could invest in a PASS site for the client, and then encourage them to share the site with all of their family and friends. PASS also let's you see how many people have viewed a particular wedding.

Thanks for your comments. That's a good idea 2ndshooter but I don't think they will like to share the photos that much online. I think they will rather just show people on a computer.

The vouchers would be for portrait sessions just to keep me busy and show my work to more people.

I am confident she will like them and maybe even talke me up to her friends but I was looking for ways to make it easier on her to do so and increase my chances.

the bride will most likely not hand out much on your behalf... she might be happy enough to mention your name if/when someone asks, but she probably won't want to keep a stack of whatever on hand to hand out... if she does, you'll most likely see a lot of "I left them at home..."

with a little bit of luck, you will someday shoot someone that works in a jewelery shop and email you every month asking you for more business cards!
