Tacks sure look sharp ro me. I push them through paper and into walls to hold up said paper. I'm sure a marble cannot do the same.

I think you may be confusing tacks with thumb tacks. Tacks are used primarily in shoe making and they are VERY sharp. The point is made by shearing the shank of the tack leaving a very sharp point. Thumb tacks on the other hand are a different item altogether and are, as you point out, usually fairly blunt. I hope this helps clear things up for you.:D

The tack I put on my teachers chair in third grade was sharp enough to go through her polyester dress, her pantyhose and her bloomers and stick right in her butt. Oh, plenty sharp. :lol:
