I bet all you've tried is silver ring or gold ring tacks. Move up to an L tack, and they'll be sharp. Also, have you tried upping your sticking speed? (How fast you push a tack into the board to stick it). I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."
