back in the day, there used to be a "Rite of Passage" on POTN that your first picture had to be of ducks.

Seems to have tapered off with all the newer POTN members.

I still have a download folder called DUCKS

For me it is usually whatever is right in front of me, so my desk or whatever is on it - the camera box.

I will second the desk or I would photograph a chair

I took some pictures of the camera box on my desk. Haha

I haven't bought a new camera for about 5 or 6 years now.....so I can't remember

I selected other because you didn't include "the inside of the camera shop". That, plus the street outside are the first things I photograph, before I actually hand over the money.

This is my choice. I shoot something in the shop, or the clerk, or the street outside, or all of these. Since I don't buy a camera that I can't put my hands on first, I always shoot in the shop using a card I bring with me.

I know, I cant believe you made such an egregious oversight.

First thing I shot with my 5D Mark II was the village I grew up in halfway around the world that I hadn't been to in 19 years...beat THAT!!

Recently, it was the camera I bought before the new one. So, it was:

7D took a picture of my Holga.
5DII, took a picture if my 7D.

I go to our zoo. Beaks, eyes and claws tell me how sharp things are.

I had to pick other. The first choice should have been dog/cat. Hahahaha
