Update, I stuck to my guns and they ACCEPTED my bid....

I really feel that it was a fair bid for both parties involved. Now I just need to figure out how to handle publishing / copyright / Usage. In the email I received, I was told to provide ~ 25 images immediately following the event, which will be published in two different company travel magazines.

I guess i'll go back and sift thru this thread, I remember reading a few posts that offered information on the next few steps I need to take. Again, thanks for all the comments....they are all very helpful.

just curious, what was the final bid? Did you go by day rates or hourly + editing + licensing/terms of use?

I would suggest the book "Pricing Photography" (there is a new version coming out in Nov.) and the software BlinkBid. Me personally, I would charge a Creative Fee instead of a day rate and a Usage Fee - based on how it's used and for how long. All expenses are extra on the bid. I can post an example bid made with blink bid if you want me to.

It would be much appreciated by me and by many others that may be able to use the information in the future...

Thank you!

I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

I charged by the hour
I charged for editing time
I charged for travel.....(150 mile round trip)
I charged for Usage.....(25 images to be published right away)
I charged for parking as well

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention above that I submitted an overtime charge for anything over 8 hours on a given day. It was a per half hour charge
