Lifer shot for me. Not 100% yet with the ID. This was shot right around my house. Heard a different kind of call so I looked around and saw this beauty nicely perched singing, and allowed me to get close. Not the best lighting condition as this tiny beauty is under heavy shade so I had to shoot this at ISO2500 and keep a decent shutter speed.

New addition. This is the uncropped version of #4. What do you guys think? Better than the cropped version?

Jo, very nice series of the pacific wren. They were divided from the winter wren, not too long ago. The high iso doesn't come across on my screen. What camera body?

Thanks Rick and Rex :)

Rex, I used my 7D on these. I have to do a bit of NR here and at the same time don't wanna lose a lot of details.

I am surprised you got even one of those. Usually take right off. Each one is a winner, Well done!

Very nice, I really like the 4th shot especially with the hint of light hitting it just above the eye.

Thanks Bret, there were lots of bird activities around the area, maybe the reason why this critter did not notice me. A male downy flew very close that startled the wren and then I did not see him anymore.

Thanks, I actually did not notice that while I was taking pics, I just kept on taking pictures knowing the wren will eventually fly away.

Wonderful shots Jo, looks very much like our UK Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) except for a less obvious eye stripe. Looks like you got nice and close, its easy to forget how small these little birds are.

Very good captures, Jo. Looks like he's telling you something in #3-probably just as well you don't speak "wren"!

Great shots Jo, it's a nice feeling to see and photograph a bird you've never seen before :)

Thanks Lester, you are very correct, these wren's are tiny, sometimes same size with the hummingbirds.

Very nice, Jo; you did well in coaxing it out of the brush.
