I guess a prerequisite is that it be good in low light situations.
I need a camera to take photos of rooms and indoor spaces.
As for budget, I already have a DSLR so I dont WANT to spend a lot, but decent quality would be nice. I just want a small alternative to my dslr, I cant carry my dslr everyday.

Doesnt have to be canon, but im pro-canon

You need a camera with a 24mm lens, preferably with a large
maximum aperture and/or a larger than average imaging sensor.

The S100 (and now the S110) sound like just what you need.
If the S110 fits in your budget, it could be great for you,
if not, then the S100 which is $100 less than the S110.

If you're looking for something less expensive than the S100,
then the Nikon P310 is a pretty good alternative - it has a 24mm
lens and a max aperture of f/1.8, but a standard 1/2.3" sensor.
For that you'll pay $100 less than the S100.

I would suggest either a G11 or G12 plus a 270EX flash for bounce, and add a Sto-Fen Omni bounce diffuser. I use a G11 and 430EX II with a Sto-Fen diffuser, and it fills the room with good even light. I'm not taking photos for real estate, but more like family photos and gatherings. The 270EX is much smaller, but should provide enough light in a room, unless the ceilings are very high. You can also stitch panorama images without a lot of effort, but doing them in a small room may lead to some issues for close items.

Here's a shot taken of our kitchen after a recent renovation. I used the G11 and 430EX II with the diffuser. Also, the articulating LCD is helpful, IMHO.

This article may also open your eyes to the opportunities with stitching.

I realize that the sony is more expensive, someone i know has it and likes it but they are not a "photographer".

Another vote for the S100 if you are looking for a pocket camera. It is so small and compact it is not much bigger than my phone, so is a great stealth job. It delivers surprisingly good images for such a small package and has the ability to shoot in RAW when in the manual modes. If something larger is OK one of the G series, 12, 15, or 1X might be the go.

I am buying a S100 or S110 for the exact same thing. I need to take pics of my projects I do.

S110/100 can be tripod mounted and put into manual mode at 24mm with a high F stop and should turn out some banging architectural photos.
