from what i have heard this lens will be in the 700 dollar range. of course you are correct...if the lens comes in at 950USD, there's no point in not getting the sigma, which has 9 aperture blades already.

the source of my excitement is the rumored 700 dollar price tag.

Sounds interesting, but.. although the aperture blades are rounded, i think they dropped the ball by only including 6 blades!

Dammit..put 7, 8, or 9 blades, and charge $50 more.. it will be worth it!

The specs do list 9 blades.

Definitely is 9 blades. I would be shocked if it comes in at the $700 range as its construction is equal to the new 24-70mm. What is the source for this price range?

6D, 5D, 7Dii, Eos R and too many lenses, flashes and aux. gear to list!

Oops.. you're right.

Under "Product Features", it said "The rounded diaphragm(6)"..i assumed (silly me :o ) that meant 6 blades.

I retract my previous statement.. and am looking forward to some reviews. :)

No way they're going to sell it for $700 when the Sigma sells well for double.

$700 is absolutely ridiculous, where did you hear this?

Sigma sells for $1249, not double but close enough.

No way this lens goes less than $1k. Not even possible.
Expect in the $1299 (likely)-$1499 (less likely) range.

I am thinking around the $1349-$1499 range, I am really wanting to see how it reviews. I am wanting to get this instead of the canon mkII and save the extra $$ for a 17-55 2.8

The canon mkII for $600 more on sale is a tough call, I am leaning towards Canon at the moment

I love my Tamron 70-300 VC USD...however and have been wanting to get a 2.8 70-200, but reluctant to buy one without VC/IS/OS and as we all know, those cost money or don't exist (Canon's expensive, Tamron didn't exist, still left the Sigma, though).

However...2.8, VC, USD, 9 rounded blades, excellent build, etc...I think Tamron may have a winner...and I may have my next telephoto :D (coupled with a 1.4x TC)

I love my Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC! This new Tamron 70-200 may be the perfect soul mate. I can't wait to see this lens.

Good to see quite a few people where pretty on about the price.
I am DEFINITELY interested in this lens. Would love to see it about $200 less but it makes sense.
