What is the best free watermark software to use, I have been searching but can't find any good ones? Any thoughts? Thanks.

EDIT: I should add that I am using a mac computer.

I only use iPhoto 09 :o so don't have photoshop or lightroom etc. So just need something to download which will allow me to create a watermark and let me put it on some pictures, so I can then put on a website.

Gee, I'd be surprised if iPhoto couldn't do some kind of rudimentary watermarking, at least.

I personally do all of this via actions in Photoshop. An internet search for "watermarking software" gives you several options. Looking at the first few it seems that they offer a trial period and I would suggest that you simply give them a try within that free period. A couple of years ago I downloaded some of these (can't recall the exact names) and found that they couldn't do what I could do with an action in Photoshop. In Photoshop you can batch run actions to apply your action or define your watermark as a brush to do one at a time which you can put on a separate layer to place anywhere in the image. If you are going to market yourself as a paid photographer you will really need something beyond what you have now, imo.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I have found a decent one for mac (eventually). Its really good, a bit slow if you need to do heaps, but if you buy it it gets faster. Its called visual watermark.

You can use visual watermark. It is free if you don't want to upgrade, but you can only add the C sign or text, and you can only put watermarks on photos 5 at a time, but takes about 10 seconds for every 5 photos. Hope this helps.

You can do plenty with Elements, but at least when I used it you were limited in "batch processing". I've heard that there are Photoshop Actions that can be used in Elements, which is nice, but you have to "import" them -- you can't create actions in Elements, I believe. You also may need to "tinker" with them to get them to work in Elements.

Lightroom does have a Watermark utility built into its Export function as well as its Print module. I don't use them so don't have the "details", ask for specifics, and in the meantime check Lightroom Help and try doing a search. I did a quick one on "lightroom watermark" on two different search engines:

http://search.comcast.net …atermark&top_SearchSubmit (external link)=

Note that there are plug-ins available for Lightroom and Elements.

If this helps, I do not have a custom watermark, but use Picasa "add text" button and just reposition it, use transparency and copy text and paste it to all my photos. Real easy.
