I have some images to print which show a little bit of banding and want to know will it show when printed?

I'm working in 16-bit mode in PS and have added a couple of curves/levels adjustment layers which has brought out this problem. I know sometimes an image can look less than perfect on screen but comes out well in printed form, ie. in terms of noise but I've never had to print anything exhibiting banding. If I can fix it at this stage before I spend money on print costs it'd be great.

Probably not as clear as on screen because printing softens the image. But I was proudly showing another 'tog an A3+ print of Salisbury Cathedral and his first comment was about the banding in the sky, so it may survive.

Sometimes you can eliminate/reduce banding by adding noise. Try adding a small amount of noise to a 50 % gray layer set to overlay and adjusting opacity to taste. The noise layer would go on the top of your layer stack.

I'd just actually read about this technique earlier today, but thanks for the info ;)
