newbie for 20D...software questions...should I use zoom browser, Digital professional software, Adsobe elements 2.0 or Adobe photshop CS

Use Eos Viewer to get the files into your computer and Elements for everything else

Avoid the Digital professional software it has had terrible reviews, and photoshop CS is overkill and overcompliacted for a beginner

I just got the latest version of Elements, version 4. It's still making me nuts trying to learn it, but it seems very powerful, and is likely much more functional than v. 2. Jury is still out, but I think I may get to the point where PSE4 is my one and only program. For me, I think it will work.

I believe you can still upgrade to PSE 2 that came with your camera to PS DS2 for $299. Check the adobe site. Saves a lot of money.

Not too sure about that Simon, many think DPP has one of the best output.

Does anybody still use the Breezebrowser?

I have been using it for a number of years for convenient organizing and simple RAW conversion/resizing tasks. My kids are using it.

I use the eos viewer utility to offload my files, and from there everything else (RAW conversion/JPEG editing) is done Photoshop CS2. I think if you can learn to use photoshop you'll be much happier down the road with your acquired skills. There are plenty of books to choose from to help you out, as well as resources online.

I have just been going by their reviews though so I admit it isn;t personal experience

Which ius why I suggested just using the EOS viwer utilitry and Elements ( as it's cheaper and easier to learn that CS2

But if you can afford it go for CS2 by all means! :D

It is certainly worth considering that as you get more experience you will want to be using RAW more and more, and FROM WHAT IVE READ ( not personal experienbce - I don';t have enough of that) there are strong arguements for not using other raw convertors other than Adobe.

However I use Apple macs and so the choice is limited anyway but put it this way you wont go wrong with Adobe
