Hi there, I have the chance to buy this lens for £120 2nd hand, in good condition. Is this a good price? what does everyone think of this lens? Is the lack of IS going to be a big problem?

Thanks!

That's a phenomenal price, provided it's functional and optically good. Here in the states I see them for about 700-900 USD

If it's a good (i.e., normal) working copy, it's one of the sharpest lenses around, period.

I know its not the same, but I've used a 300 2.8 Non IS recently, that did have its wear and tear, but it was fun to use. Not the easiest to handhold, but then I wouldn't do sports without a monopod generally.

As others have said, that's a great price for a working lens. Lack of IS isn't going to be a problem unless you're in a relatively low light situation and you don't have a tripod or monopod.
