I have a bunch of photos as sRgb that i'm putting into an Asukabook. Is it worth my time to go through and convert them all from RAW to adobe RGB for printing or should I just use the sRgb ones? I have to decide before I start because of the way their template system works.

Knowing the way you work with post-processing it's probably the least of your worries. I'd only be concerned if you have strong greens or yellows - and you probably don't - and were concerned heavily about them - and you probably aren't. Then, since you do little PP to your shots I would not worry about PPing in the larger space, so go right to sRGB. Edit: Or just stay in sRGB now that I re-read. Hell of a lot less work for almost no benefit.

No not many strong colors really. I don't do much post processing, but i'll tweak every image for the book in ACR at least, and i'll probably take a fair few into photoshop. Given that i'm doing that I might as well throw them out in aRgb I guess.

If AsukaBook accepts and uses A-RGB and you're going to be doing all or most of them again in ACR and you have no strong colors and no plans to do much PP then I'd next ask: what's the point of A-RGB? Whether for (most) printing or all screen the the final target space will be sRGB. If you're not going to PP much then you don't need to worry about color space stretches and compressions. Thus you only really have to worry about color space conversions, which will be to sRGB, so if you output ACR to sRGB then you won't have any color space conversions.

Going to a larger space is not worthwhile if you're not going to use it (ie; post-processing). So don't do any conversions and stick to sRGB all the way.

I wouldn't say there are no strong colors. There's skies in some of them, a blue ocean in another, flowers, etc - general wedding photos. Given that i'm going to be opening, viewing, and saving each one, is there any reason not to use aRgb? I have to figure if they converted to sRgb before printing they'd just have told me to use sRgb.

Another point in using A-RGB with strong colors is that you'll know/realize/find out that some portions are out of sRGB gamut and de-saturate before you convert to sRGB. Will you or they desaturate the problem areas? Or will those strong colors just stay as they are the entire time? If the latter then there's no sense in doing A-RGB, since there's always some destruction in a conversion.

Why would they be converted to sRgb if I start in aRgb? As I understand it if I work in aRgb I have a wider gamut, and they're never converted to sRgb.

I said: "...(most) printing or all screen the the final target space will be sRGB." However, it appears that Asukabook will convert either to CMYK, so this statement doesn't apply to this situation. Thus it makes more sense to do A-RGB.

So I take it all back - use AdobeRGB.

Thanks for your help Scottes, I appreciate it :)

I am post processing most images this time... noise reduction, sharpening, cloning out spots, etc. Just using unsharp mask and only a little but still, better than nothing eh? :)

Attaboy! We'll make a Photoshopper out of you yet.

Of course, then you'll get all crazy spending 3 days processing 800 shots for a single wedding. :-)

I spend a lot of time in photoshop, just not for the proofs. I have 120 photos going into this book, that'll take long enough.

Out of curiousity and since I don't feel like registering for a simple curious question, how much does one of those Hard Cover Book Bound 10x10 40-sides books cost?
