Just for the exercise - these two shots were testing the zoom - so from wide to maximum zoom( not digital )

Spot the ball ...

Sorry it's a link but have trouble reducing picture size to this site's requirements! Got worse with Google+ mucking around with Picasa ...

That's very good.

Yup. Even without the halo, it looked somewhat over-sharpened to me.

I just received my SX50 HS, looking at the photographs posted I am am glad I purchased it. For a $339.00 it sure looks like it does a nice job.
Beautiful shots guys and gals. It is March so a lot of birds are heading north, I may go to Montezuma state park between Rochester and Syracuse, NY. It is a great place to get a lot of migrating bird shots. With the large zoom and tripod it will be easier to get nice shots deep in the swamp.

Congrats on your purchase. I've been tempted to replace my SX40 with this one. I'm still hoping to see it break the $300 (in my area I've only seen it as low as $350) then I'll get one :D. In my opinion if you're into birds more than photography I do believe this is a birder's companion. I say it because these factors:

  • cheap
  • in the proper hands can produce great images
  • long reach (spotting scope)
  • Portability (light, takes little room to carry)

Just got to watch for thermal radiation at full extension in the Summer :D

just my 2cents
