I think your best option is a used Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM.. though i agree with kf095 that im unsure f/2.8 is enough on a 5D

As said above the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 is a bit eh in the AF side of things, Especially in lowish light it will likely hunt

Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 AF speed sucks if you shoot sports with it, but PQ is great.

It`s really up to your shooting style.

How is the AF of the tamron 70-200 compared with the 35f2 or the 28-75?

The AF of Tamron 70-200 is comparable to the 28-75. I have both.
The problem is that the AF has to travel longer distance from MFD to infinity than the 28-75. If you miss focus with the 70-200, it takes forever to recover.

As for PQ, I would say that the 70-200 slightly better than 28-75, and absolutely better than Sigma 70-200 non-OS. I did a test before : at 200mm, the Tamron at f/3.2 matches Canon 70-200 IS II at f/2.8。 And the sigma 70-200 EX HSM needs to stop down to about f/5 to match that。 I sold the Sigma, and kept the Tamron as a backup, ligher alternative lens to the 70-200 IS II coz the PQ is satisfactory unlike the Sigma which is decent but far from the Canon or even Tamron level.

Thank you all guys for your help and for sharing your experience!
After a lot of thinking i decided to look for a Tamron 70-200 2.8 used so if i ever want to replace it with the new one (with VC + USD) or the canon equivalent i can sell it with a negligible lost in terms of money.
Thanks again!

In my city the asking price of a second hand tammy 70-200 on craigslist is normally about $500~600 or so. If you find a good deal , say less than $500, you won't lose much money at all when you sell it one day.
