I was out tonight waiting for an aurora, not because I was monitoring all of my usual sources, but because I was hoping to find enough peace to find answers to why people would bully a 15 year old girl to the point she felt there was no hope and took her own life. The story brought me back to my youth and experiences of being bullied, and the toll it took on me. In short I had to change schools after I had been beaten into unconsciousness, and spent a week in the hospital recovering.

The good part was I chose a life of service to make sure that i did my part to fight bullies. I am saddened that not much has changed since my high school days...

The aurora tonight, and a falling star that appeared right over my home while taking a shot made me feel special, and that somehow Amanda was putting on a show for everyone. Her story is here...

I know this might not be the appropriate place for this, but I would ask the moderators to allow me a little latitude. Not the best auroras I have shot, but I have not felt better about a particular picture than this.

Hey edge2edge, I'm a red hair person, 50 years old, and just want to say....people are cruel and mean.
I was "teased" a lot, that's what it was called in the 1970's, taunted, etc, you name it.
ex;
Rather dead then red on the head, Red on the head like a d*ck on a dog.
Hey carrot top, etc.

People prey on differences, I got into countless fights because of my red hair, as a kid I so wanted blonde hair, or brown hair, or anything but what God gave me.

Everyone has a story, Based on my life experiences empathy is a learned human trait, sad to say, not a inborn one, or just children would not taunt/tease others.

I could say so much more, but this is not the forum, and I've moved past it.

Peace.

btw nice shot.

Thank you sir! I guess this young lady's story struck a cord...I will leave it at that. I can tell you I was not on my game, but I truly enjoyed the aurora last night. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate the insight!
