Well I finally thought I shot my first mallard duck, but when I realized the bill and neck band colors were wrong, I was devastated. I guess these will have to do, Northern Shovelers.

Here I was all worked up to correct you - then I actually read your comments. :)

Nice shots, Dennis - except the slightly cropped off schnozz on the second one.

Thanks Jay, I know in the second shot, the ducks swam out of the frame just as I had focused and pressed the shutter.

Beautiful animals. I like the first shot in particular. Quite the bill on these guys!

Thanks Gary, when I spotted them though the viewfinder, I knew they were not Mallards. The second shot is the only one that showed their wide bill.

Dennis, those are mallards, but not your average mallards. Those are "Hollywood" Mallards!

Nice shot on the first one. Shows the head colors real well. Sometimes I'd rather see the "spoonies" than the "green heads".

It seems that almost everyone eventially will post Mallard shots, afterall, they are so common. I thought from a distance that these were just a bunch of mallards. So I could accept that these Shovelers are really "Hollywood" mallards. Thanks for the comments.
