Well I finally thought I shot my first mallard duck, but when I realized the bill and neck band colors were wrong, I was devastated. I guess these will have to do, Northern Shovelers.

Thanks Jay, I know in the second shot, the ducks swam out of the frame just as I had focused and pressed the shutter. Dennis

Quite the bill on these guys! Thanks Gary, when I spotted them though the viewfinder, I knew they were not Mallards. The second shot is the only one that showed their wide bill. Dennis

Those are "Hollywood" Mallards! Nice shot on the first one. Shows the head colors real well. Sometimes I'd rather see the "spoonies" than the "green heads". It seems that almost everyone eventially will post Mallard shots, afterall, they are so common. I thought from a distance that these were just a bunch of mallards. So I could accept that these Shovelers are really "Hollywood" mallards. Thanks for the comments. Dennis
