I'm not ready to buy this for a while, but I think one of my dream lens might be the 24mm 1.4.

I'd use it indoors, low light... and for evening street photography. And so on. I'm hoping to buy it soon... :)

Any thoughts?

Thanks. I know I can get the older version for a bit less.

I can probably read about the difference on my own, but feel free to discuss it here. :)

Everything I have read says go for the version II. The first version was okay, but the newer one is excellent.

I was in the same situation.

I ended up getting a killer deal on a mkI and planned on reselling it for a profit.

Out of curiosity I took it out and put it through it's paces. Now, I have no doubt the mkII is better in many regards but I have to say the mkI is no slouch. I was so impressed I decided to keep it and have been blown away by it ever since.

If I were in your position I'd pick up a mkI, shoot with it, try it out resell and upgrade if you aren't happy.

Nice FL on a crop. I've got V1 and it's no slouch. 35L on FF though.
