First snow and First HDR

This is my first succesfull atempt at HDR. I have shot a few other sets but it was not until today that it dawned on me that Auto Focus was making the mess I saw in my HDR Shots. Also first major snow of the season. Notice the fall foliage still going on in the bottom right.

Anyway this was done in PS. I am wondering if Photomatrix would have yielded a different result?

for hdr looks flat on my monitor

^^^ Same here - especially the foreground trees.

So what would I do to correct that? This was a group of images stepped from -2 to +2 and combined using the HDR in PS6. I also have Nik's HDR Efex should I have used that instead? Any suggestions are more than welcome.

There's about a dozen presets that you can try using...I usually start with "photorealistic flat" as a starting point and then start adjusting the sliders, one at a time, waiting for the effect to kick in.

Went back and played around in PS. Also tried Photo matrix none yielded anything I liked better then this. Was not going for the over the top HDR look, rather just a clean realist is image.

I wonder if HDR was necessary in this shot? Problem is that HDR usually introduces some fuzzyness in the details, as in the trees on the mountain. Why not post one of your +0 images for comparison?
