My biggest image quality problem with the xxD/5D (pre MkIII) cameras is that they suck at low light autofocus. My 50D has some noise but is perfectly useable at 3200 ISO in most lighting conditions.

Oct 14, 2012 10:28 | #22 I would say the 40d is better than the 50d for noise, some will disagree. Maybe my copy was not great but I had a 50d and preferred the 40d. I also had a 550d t2i and that was better than the 50d for noise. I now have a 7d and feel that is better. There is no arguing if you really know how to use a camera you can get great images even at high ISO's but I believe the 18mp newer canon sensors to be easier to work with than the 15mp one in the 50d flickr

At Iso 1250/1600 with my 17-40, the images are extremely grainy. I don't care so much about the noise, it's the grainy part.

Pick one and why? Sorry... I have a 5D2, not a 5DC. I can't comment on the 5DC... never owned one. I know this goes against common preference, but if I had to make the tough choice between a 5D2 and a 60D, I'd still choose the 60D. I leave my 5D2 at work. It's great for studio and purpose-assignments. But when I'm headed out to shoot with nothing specific on my mind, I prefer the 60D for the ergonomics and control layout. When outdoors, I shoot via viewfinder 99% of the time and I love all controls on the right where everything I commonly change is at my right thumb and index finger leaving my left hand for lens support and making lens adjustments. For me, it's just plain faster and more intuitive. The twisty-LCD screen... many make fun of it... I love it for those occasional times when I need to shoot above a crowd or need to shoot really low and don't feel like getting dirty and bitten up (like the cat in the field shot above). I love the higher burst rate of the 60D and the AF seems a tad faster and more accurate. Low light performance seems to be tied between the two. There are a lot of little things that shine with the 60D... not sure you care to read a novel. Canon 5D2 | 60D | A620 | SD850 IS | SD4000 IS
