Elk and Rocky Mountain Bighorns

I received a new (to me) lens Friday, a 300mm F4 AF lens. Looks like it was never used. Pretty good for $440 (this is the older non AF-S version though).

I took it up to the mountains for some wildlife photography, but the light wasn't there since it was cloudy/dark and snowy. Got a few decent photos though, but no real keepers.

Shot with the Nikon D600. I need to get a 1.4x teleconverter.

Great shots....where in CO were these taken?? Ive done a lot of exploring around CO but rarely see Bighorns??

Great shots. In 2 trips to RMNP I never got a shot of the Bighorns. The only critique I would have is to maybe try and lighten the head of the elk a bit. But I am just being nit picky, I love these.

Wow!! These are excellent! I am in awe of these...definitely worth framing!

Very nice series. They are all nice but I prefer the 3rd and 5th images. I agree with Clark I think you could bring out more detail in the head of the elk in both the 1st and last shot.
