The screen and all settings work but will not flash ... even just pressing the test button.
Have replaced batteries and checked all contactsl

Has anyone ever sent one in for evaluation? Wondering the average costs and would I be better just buying a newer one.

Thanks in advance to any responders.

Jim

you can do a search here on repair costs, I think like cameras and lens Canon has a minimum charge, probably around $200

What did you replace your batteries with? Known good ones or some freshly charged worn out rechargables.
There have been several questions just like yours and old or low batteries have been the cause in most of the cases. It could be a problem with the flash, but just to be sure, eliminate the batteries before spending money for repair a good flash. Canon gets enough of our money without sending them working flashes to repair. :)

Freshly charged and new set both.

The part number is CY2-4135-000. This can be sourced from ebay, Canon parts, etc. and goes for around $30-40 or so.

Only caveat is you have to do the repair yourself.
