for the silhouette shots, i just made sure the sun was behind them and i think you're supposed to meter the sky or something but i just lowered the exposure to whatever i thought looked good:

Cheers, yeah, i didn't notice it when i was taking the silhouette shot. and the other one is because there is a hill on the left. there are so many things to remember when taking a shot: metering, composition, see if the horizontal is at a tilt, see if there is something distracting in the background, see if anything is sticking out of the subject's head....
