EDIT: This isn't the original file. This is a version I had on my iPhone.
The originals are below.
Just wanted to throw this up and see what everyone thought. It's hard to get an unbiased opinion from friends or family lol.

It's a weird composition, with her eyes looking up..its also very bright. Had she looked at you, this would be sweet;)

Blah I know! I hate that she wasn't looking at me, and it bothered me when I first took the pic. But since then I've changed my mind. She was just watching the clouds and I snuck up and took the pic.
Definitely going to make it less bright. Thanks!

I personally don't think her looking up is what makes it a weird composition, because her eyes are so big and so beautiful that it makes little difference, it's still easy to be captivated by them!

Did you crop this very much? I think I'd like a little bit more space on either her left or her right -- her being in the center of the image is what throws it off a little bit for me.

You are blessed with a beautiful daughter, however. :)

I love it as far as composition, framing, and where she's looking. The only downsides are her t-shirt looks possibly blown, as does the right side of her face, to a lesser degree - anyone else see this or is my iPad screen too bright? :)

Thanks so much!

I'm trying to find the original picture...I don't remember if I cropped it or not.

its like a doll you dropped in the grass...not an innocent child full of life.....next time bring her favorite person along have her stare at them and you shoot at her.....with kids I have mom or dad sit on the ground have them get the child to stare at them....and I shoot over their head or shoulders depending on the angle of the child's eyes

So if God made Man & Woman....whats his excuse for Nikon...

Thanks for elaborating (sorry if my comment sounded annoyed lol).

Had this been setup, I probably would have done just that. However, this was a spur of the moment shot while we were at a family BBQ. I just happened to have my camera around my neck and snapped the pic while her uncle was pointing out clouds to her.

Thanks for the advice though! I'll bring grandma along next time (thats her favorite person lol)

This is the original. I guess I didn't crop it, it was just a really tight shot.
She's very fair skinned, so I find a lot of the time, her face looks blown out in photos. Any thoughts on this?

This is the original

Here is my edited version. I brought down the exposure a bit and toned down the yellow and green a smidge.

I'd back off the exposure a full stop or so. The lighting at that point is quite nice IMO.

The eyes do bother me a bit. Agree with Flo - if she was looking at you it would be whole different image. The lack of a real smile isn't helping either.

Beautiful child - you should have plenty of opportunity to practice.

I think as usual Mr Titus and Flo are spot on. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it almost has a creepy feeling to it. Maybe its just the season, and I'm one over my allotment for Halloween movies, but I keep falling back to getting the feeling she is seeing "beyond" the obvious. The blank expression of being memorized kind of does that to me I think. Heck, this may be a photo to push beyond the normal PP'ing and have some "spooky" fun with. Who knows...
