I bought a Canon 5D Mark 3 less than one month ago from Adorama. It has been used very little. Yesterday every time I tried to take a photo I got an error 30 message. In other words the camera is broken.

My question is as follows:

Since I have 30 days to return or exchange the camera to Adorama.......has anyone here ever done that? I want to exchange the camera for a brand new one that works properly.

Thank you.

Please proceed, Governor.

You should return it or check with Canon on possible fix. I vaguely remember some content somewhere that the error is commonly acquired with Kingston CF cards and as I recall I think the latest firmware fixes some issue with cards. Perhaps Canon didn't get it quite right. There is also quite a bit of content on the web that this is a mirror/shutter issue; certainly this would require some major work.

Helen Oster from Adorama usually monitors these forums, I wouldn't be surprised if you hear from her soon. If it's within their return window, it should be no problem whatsoever. I had to return a camera to Adorama once and they were more than accommodating.

It is within the 30 days. The 30 days will expire on 10/18/12.

I find it hard to believe they would exchange it for a new one. If it's true then they are one sensational company.

Keep in mind.....I am talking "exchange" not return for refund. I want a new camera that works. Not the refund.

Why? If it's not working properly, they should give you one that works.

They will give you a new one if this one was new.....refurb for a refurb. You may need to be a bit pushy. They will just return it to canon. I have always had good experience with Adorama and B&H...it's the reason many buy from ONLY them!

This is fantastic news! I will call them tomorrow.

It's not a refurb. It's brand spanking new.

+1. If Detroit had taken this kind of long term approach to custormer service, the US Auto industry would not have cratered.
