I have been shooting the 5D3 with the eyecup since April. About a month ago, I took the eyecup off, as I did not like how it bent, etc... when I put it in/out of my shoulder bag - which I use most of the time these days.
One of the issues was my nose and cheek were now becoming great friends with the LCD - what a mess. I was carrying a cloth just to keep it clean.
But the worst part, I somehow was changing the diopter setting. That really screwed things up, as I have been experimenting with manual focus quite a bit and this slowed me down considerably. I also wear glasses and manual focus is a bear. (thats another topic)
Yesterday, I decided to put the eyecup back on. It is funny how a small change can make such a difference. No more messy LCD - the eyecup keeps my nose and cheek off the LCD. And the diopter is mysteriously staying put.

just a few of my thoughts...

I've been trying to find a solution. I also where glasses and I did the DK-17m mod for my Nikon D7000. I even did a tutorial on my site. But when I got my 5D3, I tried to fit the modded Nikon DK-22 adapter over the viewfinder and the 5D3 was slightly bigger. This was a big let down for me and I had to sell my mod =(.

I've been scouring the web and it seems the 1D, 7D and 5D3 have the same size viewfinder. I'm trying to see if there are eyecups available or letting me modify one.

I'm assuming the eyecup you have is the Hoodman?

Do you still see the entire viewfinder display with eyecup and glasses on?

If so, I'd appreciate a link to that eyecup.

I can see the entire viewfinder, but I have to press fairly hard to get close enough to see it. With my older glasses that was not an issue. My new glasses have a different build and it puts a lot of pressure on my nose.
I wear progressives, something new for me. They are not great for large viewfinders. I sometimes have to hold my glasses to be able to see parts of the viewfinder. Sounds tough, but it could be worse, so I am not complaining.

BTW: viewing the entire viewfinder on the 5D3 is like looking around the movie screen. There is a lot to take in.

I wear progressives too and yes, they are not the best for just every application.

Thanks for the link, will have a look.

I use the same eye cup from Hoodman on my 1D mkIV and my 5D mkIII. I had one on my 7d too. Besides the LCD issue, I just find it more comfortable.
