Need some help with RAW. I tried when I first got my camera, seemed way to complicated for me. I didn't, and probably still don't, understand many things about the software program to convert and edit the images. Because of this I always shot in JPEG.

Now that I have another CF card and some room to handle these images I want to practice a little bit.

The problem I am having is "no camera found" when trying to download the images. I am using "Zoom Browser EX" that came with my Canon 300D. The battery is charged, the camera reads busy when the USB is connected, and I get the connection beeps familiar when a USB connection is made. But I get that no camera is found.

Should I download another program, or is there something else I should be looking at with this program? This RAW business seems like a hassle, but I guess it is worth learning how to process.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Try opening windows explorer. Your camera should look like another disc on there. Then you can just copy the files from the camera to the computer hard disk.

Everyone is going to say to get a card reader. It makes life easier. I said it first

I had the same problem. Start with a card reader for down loading. Go to www.pixmantec.com (external link) they have the best and easiest program for raw and they have a free one RSE to start with. This is how I started and after learning I upgraded to there RSP now the cost is $99.oo

I do this for my jpegs, but for the raw images the computer indicates there are no images.

I will look into the card readers, thanks for the tip.

RSEP has an option to transfer images. Don't remember if RSE-free does, but the above advice should work. For future reference...

I bo, back to the first question you asked, i had the problem of 'no camera' also.
I found that if you unplug the usb and then plug it back in it will ask which programme you want to use, if you then choose the canon one it will start transferring them.
This only happened on the canon software for smaller cameras, the one on my PC for the EOS always works fine. Must admit i use Adobe to do it mostly.
Best of luck
