do you find that thumb grip helps with stabilizing your hand-holding with a manual lens?

I have 135mm f/2.8 manual lens and I get nausious sometimes trying to steady myself while looking at the viewfinder lol. Now, I have a 70-210 f/4 Canon FD lens coming my way, and it'll only get worse

Have to admit that I haven't used it so much that I could say it's useless, or not. But the thumb grip, being this short, is located above the screen. And your thumb would go over the screen covering part of the screen, and even possibly touching the screen.

But I have to be more on the road before I can say anything more.

The M already has a thumb grip, with the video record button in the middle.

My ideal would be, that the M's thumb *grip* would be a bit bigger so it really would give grip. This kind of external thumb grip were ideal (for me) if it extended above the M's record button where such grip should be. If someone finds a longer thumb grip, please let me know!

Besides myself....is anyone finding themselves when using their DSLRs, trying to press your fingers to your LCD screen to zoom in after taking a picture?

I find that I'm really shaky trying to manual focus. I have a small Slik Pro 613CF tripod and Flashpoint F1 head that works really well with the M. It is small, lightweight and light. Something like this may be an option.

I'm soon to be an EOS M owner. I have a trip to Europe coming in November and I want the DSLR experience (or as close as I can get) without lugging my 1Ds2 or Rebel. I was able to get the M w/ 18-55 for $258.71 after applying points from my Amazon credit card. Seemed like a no brainer since it is even less than the high-end fixed-lens models. Can't wait!
