Care to elaborate on the "OK" part?

I'd rather not, to be honest. I don't want to turn this into another "6D owners don't kill me" thread. It seems certain people can't handle the slightest criticism of their favorite toys.

All I'll say is that I have a love/hate relationship with the M. If you're completely happy with it, good for you. That's all that matters at the end of the day.

Greetings speedync, from mgk2 @ WP. Glad to see that you've finally received your M ;)

I agree that the M works ok for static scenes, shutter lag is there, plus the rather longish time to lock on (mine's already on fw 2.0.2). Although I buy it for mostly static subject and as a lightweight option for general use.

And hey for the price I paid I ain't gonna **** about every little flaws :p

Anyway here's my first contribution to this thread -

Greetings Kin2son :)

Here's how I carry my M and both lenses around.

M Case (external link) by speedync (external link), on Flickr

It's just that bit too fat to fit in a normal pocket, for my liking. Even with the 22mm attached.
That's a digicam semi hard cover case/bag that the M and both kit lenses fit in just snugly. Will fit with either lens attached to the body. Could possibly squeeze in the flash, but am yet to try. Great for my motorcycle trips when I'm in no hurry to get anywhere, or get the shot. There is just something nice about a large sensor in a small camera.
Lack of manual controls is not really an issue, as the touch screen is very good. Even in manual, as you don't have to take the camera from your eye to see the icons, because, it's not at your eye in the first place :)
As soon as you venture outdoors, the LCD must be turned up to full brightness, or it's impossible to see. For me anyway.
I've added a couple of menu items to the My menu screen, to make it a bit quicker to access certain settings.
The 22mm is a ripper.

I love my EOS-M, but it sure can push my buttons. It's not a responsive camera, and I learned that yesterday while shooting some stars of The Walking Dead. I had a bear of a time with focus. But, whatever. I got a few fun pics out of it (WalkerStalkerCon in Atlanta yesterday). I couple of these pics are re-posts from another thread. Sorry about that.

Norman Reedus doesn't like me. ;)

I asked him to salute me, and he knew exactly what I was talking about. Those of you who follow him on social media know he does the finger everywhere. Just a silly trademark of his and Michael Rooker's.

The Chicken Man. Those of you who watch Breaking Bad know who this is: Giancarlo Esposito, aka Gus Freeman. He was incredibly friendly and all smiles....except when posing. Then he was pure psychopathic Gus.

This photo of Melissa McBride came out so poorly that I had to work hard on it. I decided to get artistic to offset the horrible job I did on the lighting. She was backlit, I had no flash, and I had my settings all wrong. Dang!

Hopefully I made a decent save.

I know this is off topic, but did flickr change the ability to grab the bbcode for photos? I can't find it at all anymore to post photos

Just realized what happened, Flickr forced me into the beta experience which removes quick bbcode link via the share icon. I was able to opt out

What do you guys think of the sharpness of the pancake wide open? What aperture do you think is the sweet spot? F2.8?

Also is there min ss for Av?

I find it's pretty darn sharp wide open, but I'd say it only gets better stopped down a bit. I think it's about as sharp as it gets by f/2.8, but given how wide the DOF is with the lens I haven't shot much beyond f/2.8 so I honestly couldn't say for sure

I'd post some wide open examples, but they're already in this thread somewhere, I've taken lots of frog shots with my M at various apertures and was impressed with each one. The 22mm is surprisingly sharp, I wish they made one for EF mount

This 22mm pancake is definitely sharp enough wide open when compared to my other L lenses. I think it's sharper than my 50L at 1.2 and 40mm pancake at 2.8.

Again, I can't recommend enough about this little piece of gem.

Had some Amazon points so I decided to take a risk and grab the Rokinon 300mm f6.3 in EOS-M mount. Should have it Wednesday. I'll get some pics posted ASAP.

Yea, you just reminded me. I think it was BobbyZ that tested it against his 5D with 35L and it was as sharp or sharper at f/2 than the L was. Crazy. That lens alone makes it worth the cost of the M imo.

Well I personally think it's not bad @ f2....I guess it's the combination of the 'just alright' ISO performance of the crop sensor that hurts the sharpness a lil.

In regards to comparing to L lenses, I'm pretty sure my Sigma 35 is sharper at f1.4 :p

Anyway I'll give f2.8 a try, thanks guys!

22m f2 is very sharp at f2. Seems as good as any L.

As others have commented, I find it perfectly acceptable wide open. Comparing it to the EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM I had, it's definitely sharper wide open. The 24mm used to sharpen noticeably at f3.2, but I can't really see much difference stopping down the 22. It's probably there, I just can't really see it. Maybe I just need to take some more shots.

Now tossing up between the 40mm pancake, or the older 35mm f/2 with an adapter. Chuck in the 85mm f/1.8, or the 100 f/2, maybe the EF-s 60mm macro, and you would have yourself a ripping good lightweight and very cheap setup with very very good IQ. Only my 2 cents.
