I'm debating between my 7D and the M for my trip to Vegas in a month.

Nah, she wouldn't hurt me. She's awesome. Just worries about money. We both do.

But this is something I've been working toward for a while. She knows it, and I went way under budget. It's all good.

The M is going to a good home and has a few scheduled trips out of the nation. Lucky camera.

Glad to hear you escaped unscathed. :)

Hey, EOS M peeps! I'm the fellow POTN member that Mike sold his M to.

I was intrigued with this camera the moment that it came out, but was in the process of buying my 6D so was not in a financial position to have both.

Between my son and I, I either own or have access to the following: XT, XSi, T2i, 60D, and 6D.

I look forward to posting some "M" photos here. My very small Flickr collection is at this link if you care to check it out: Flickr LINK (external link).

There is a mix of XT, T2i, and 6D photos there.

Talk to you all soon. Well, as soon as Mike gets the M shipped to me. :)

Dwain

It's a great camera Dwain, you're going to enjoy it! :)

And this will go down as my favorite photo taken with my M. Not technically great photo, but fun and i enjoyed processing it through various apps. I'll frame it soon. Will be tough to part with this camera, but we had a fun time together. Great camera.

Awesome! I recently got myself hooked on this show, binge watched all of the available episodes in 3 weeks (except for the 4th season, not on Netflix :(). Where/how did you get the opportunity to take this shot?

This was at the Walker Stalker Convention in Atlanta in November. The room was a setup for people paying crazy amounts of money to have a photo with the cast. Most were about sixty bucks per actor, arranged in a tight schedule. It was 500 bucks to get a pic with the whole cast.

But I wasn't there for that. I was on the main floor cruising. I had no plans to go into the photo op room.

I had met most of the actors already but couldn't handle the two-hour line to meet Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon). He, Andrew Lincoln, and Danai Gurrira (Michone) had long lines, but all the other actors only had five to ten minute lines, so I met all if them first.

At the end of the day I was about done when I heard commotion. I looked and saw another guy dressed just like Norman Reedus. Seriously, there are as many people at these conventions dressed as Reedus as there are people dressed as Reedus' character, Daryl Dixon.

Back to the commotion: people were surrounding the guy so I asked a bystander, "What's the fuss?" A guy said it was Norman Reedus. I asked skeptically if it was the real Reedus and he said yes.

I normally won't bother a famous person. If it's convenient I'll say something and ask to take a photo, but that's about it. But I was annoyed by the long lines for Reedus so I decided to just go for it. I followed right behind him and eventually said, "How about a pic for a local guy." He turned around and said (while still walking), "I can't."

He was then ushered into a room. Next comes Andrew Lincoln down the hall walking quickly. Right as he was about to duck into the room I asked him the same question. For some reason he stopped for me. I didn't get a great shot, but I got a shot anyway.

So then he ducks in the room and I was tired and ready to go home. Some lady walks back out of the room and says, "Ok, photographers. Come in. You have exactly three minutes to take pictures."

I looked around and realized I just happened to be standing with the press. Oops. So they rushed into the room and I followed along. I took the photo of Reedus and friends above and many others. The middle finger was for me. I asked him, "Mr. Reedus, how about a salute?" Then when a few minutes passed the same lady said, "ok, press, it's time to leave." That's when I decided to stop pretending I was press, and decided not to leave. I simply stepped to the side and acted like I was supposed to be there. I took more photos until they then began bringing people in to take photos with the whole cast. I watched for a while, and then when there was a break in the action I walked behind all the actors, threw an arm around a Reedus and Lincoln, and the photographer took a pic. I paid ten bucks to download it with limited publishing rights (social media, blogs, etc.), and then I finally went home. It was fun. All M photos except the group one.

This one I ran through Photoshop. I wanted to be silly and so I stole Scott Wilson's beard, mouth and mustache along with the top of his head. Now we're like Popeye and Poop Deck Pappy.

^So... freaking... EPIC! Hahaha, I did a similar thing at a National Gymnastics Congress a few years ago (I'm a gymnastics coach) and got to hang out with the Olympic team from Bejing and their coaches, sadly I didn't have a camera that time though :( I only did it then though because there was an open bar for coaches at the event and I was pretty well off so I just didn't care if they kicked me out for pretending I belonged in the VIP section  Which they eventually did... but they did so very politely and just laughed about it :)

I've lucked into a bunch of stuff over the years, and sometimes I just walk into events. If there aren't signs specifically telling me to stay out I go in. The trick is to walk fast, give a polite nod to people, and act like you're supposed to be there.

Now, to really top it off, put your cell phone to your ear and then pretend to be on an angry call to a subordinate that just messed up. Chastise him over the phone and be mad. Nobody wants to interrupt an important and angry phone call, so they will back off. It really works.

I only do it if I know I won't hurt anyone or mess up something. If there are signs I respect them.

A couple years ago a couple was able to get into the Whitehouse for a party. They pulled it off.

Yup, that's basically what we (a co-worker and I) did at this event. I'm pretty sure this was the same convention where I slept in for the first day of lectures (oops!) and rushed into the convention center in St. Paul looking for a place to sign in and get my "papers". People asked me if I was a coach, to which I naturally replied "yes". They brought me into a closed off room (not usually the case when signing in to these events) and congratulated me for coaching... then looked up my name in the computer and couldn't find it. They asked me which gym I worked for and I told them, then they made me a pass and gave me some stuff in a gym bag and wished me good luck... I didn't really put it together until I walked out of the room that they thought I was an Elite gymnast's coach (kind of a big deal) that had kids there to compete at the Visa Nationals.

It worked out to be pretty awesome because the badge they gave me got me into all the competitions for free (usually each ticket is $15-20 for each day) and I could've walked onto the floor... but I didn't because I was afraid if they found out they'd take my badge and I couldn't get in for free anymore

I still have that badge... it was too funny a thing to throw away

EDIT: Actually, it was definitely the same event, the badge was the reason I figured "what the hell, I look important" when I went into the VIP section of the party

Any tips on what adaptor to get? Are the non-canon ones worth thinking about getting?

I have the Canon adapter and it works great with all of my EF lenses as well as a Tokina. I've read mixed reviews on the non-canon adapters ... when they work, they're great, but for me, it's worth the extra $$ to know my equipment will work properly.

^^^^^ Beautiful and moving.

I'm still waiting on the delivery of EOS Mike's "M". Looks like it will be Monday before it's here.

But, on a more positive note, FedEx did deliver my EF -> EFM adapter today!

Looking forward to contributing.

Oh....they better deliver it today. Monday isn't good enough. So I have to jump on USPS too? Drat!

What time is your mail usually delivered? I paid for two day with them, too.

Man, if they can't make their own deadlines they shouldn't even sell the service.
