Very best, Great sunsets. Can you comment on the Ultra Pod II vs something like a Gorilla Pod? Can you snap a shot of the Ultra Pod II next to the M to get a size comparison? Thx in advance!

Jul 17, 2014 16:59 | #4010 Need opinions on what you guys think. I am thinking about adding a 35mm prime to my arsenal and have always been tempted to buy an EOS M. I like the portability when I don't want to drag my DSLR everywhere and it's other advantages. I am wondering if you guys would recommend I get an M to fill that gap or if I should get a 35mm to go on my DSLR (they would be similar in price also). I have been doing a lot of family portraits lately and this would probably go alongside my 5Dc with the 85mm 1.8. I know the consistency of shots would probably be better with a 5Dc and 35mm combo, but it is tempting to get this instead of another lens as this could serve other purposes as well. Thanks! 2 6D - 35 f1.4L, 135 f2L, 50 f1.8 STM, 85 f1.8

It certainly has it's place and is a quality camera/lens, I still think it would be worth having a separate 35mm for your 5D. Which 35 do you use on your 5D3? I am considering the 35 f2 IS. I also have an M with 22 and the 18-55.

I personally found that I greatly preferred 50mm and shooting 35mm felt awkward to me (still does sometimes with my M). I've found that this isn't uncommon, most people prefer one or the other, but not both. I like to use 28mm (24mm possibly down the road) along with 50mm and then 85-135mm depending on the look I want for the shot. Don't presume that because many people use it it's going to be the answer for you. The best thing to do is try out the options and see what suits your style ![]() Also good advice. I do miss the 50mm focal length, but personal like the 35mm focal length for environmental and daily use. Chad or CJ

That's for sure what most people think, I'm not trying to sway OP away from 35mm, just not feel obligated to get one just because everyone seems to use one and love it. I really tried to love my 35/2, I have some awesome shots from it... but using it just didn't feel natural to me, I always ended up wanting to put my 50mm back on. With 28mm I don't get that desire, it's different enough to make me use it differently, the 35mm was so close to the 50 that it just felt wrong to me... don't know how else to explain it. I had to really force myself to get shots with mine, and I did get some good ones and I do like the perspective when it's done well... but if you don't enjoy it, you don't enjoy it... and I didn't Fuji X-T3 // Fuji X-Pro2 (Full Spectrum) // Fuji X-H1 // Fuji X-T1
