Yes please. PM me, and one who is honored is mine.

Scorpio. That is not a new talk but don't forget the true reason that Canon is ashamed of M is the fact that they where planning to sell it at 700-800$ mark when marked dictated selling ~ $300-400 to them.

That is the only shame on their feeling, otherwise, EOS-M is truly one of the best buy I ever had giving Both IQ and function, then price (irrespectively and not in relation).

I was talking with a Canon rep. I was surprised hearing it directly from a rep. Kind of odd for a rep to pass on any negativity about their product.

Ashamed of the EOS M? Not at all... They should be proud, it is a beautiful piece of engineering!
Ashamed of their original asking price? Absolutely and then some!!!

Could you imagine how crushing the buyers remorse must have been dropping $800+ on the EOS M with the original firmware???
I absolutely adore it as it is, with upgraded firmware, after dropping under $500 for EOS M, 22, 18-55, 90EX and Canon adapter.
BUT... with the upgraded firmware the AF is just acceptable. If it performed any worse than it currently does, I wouldn't keep it as it would be unusable IMO.
Reading reviews of the AF performance before the firmware tweak sounds like it was a complete nightmare ;-)a

ashamed that they didnt put a viewfinder, second scroll wheel would be nice along with better firmware.

Not bad for their first attempt but compared to everyone else at the time they were lagging way behind. Sucks that we have to wait until feb till they announce the new one.

first shots from my new EOS-M

Just got my new (to me) - well, actually, lightly used - EOS-M today, complete with 22mm lens - it's very very cool. So I'm joining the community with a few photos -

First the collection of river rocks on the front porch of my old farmhouse -

Then the first pumpkin from the garden -

And finally a low-hanging branch of the Pyracantha plant that bees seem to love -

What impresses me the most so far with this camera/lens is the color rendition. Seriously cool.

They did, it's called the 100D or whatever, but it's a lot bigger.

Was there a rumour announced that I missed perhaps? Really, a M3 in Feb?

Went out two days ago with EOS M, EF to EOS M adapter and Sigma 8-16mm, intending to get a few landscape shots. En route, visited a local market with some gorgeous produce for sale. It was the wrong lens, but shot some images in any case. These two and the next pair are all taken at ISO 400, lens at 16mm (indicated), wide open (f/5.6), hand-held at various shutter speeds. Processed with DPP, PS CC and NIK plug-ins.

Anyone using this with the 22 and the 50 1.8 + adapter as a compact 35/85ish combo? I have been using primes a lot lately and really like the idea of a lightweight, take anywhere set like this. I have been on the fence about this camera for a long time and thinking I am going to pull the trigger in the next few months.

That's a fairly solid setup. I use mine with the 22mm and an adapted 50mm pretty much exclusively. I imagine the AF with the 50/1.8 would be similar to how it was with my old 35/2 in which case it'll be as fast or faster than the 22mm.

Awesome, thanks for the super fast response! I love my 85mm on FF, and have been looking to get a 35mm to add. This would kill two birds with one stone and be lighter than my normal DSLR setup for casual shooting.

TIME SENSETIVE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Amazon has A Lightening deal just started (At the time of placing this post) on

Rokinon RKHD8MV-C HD 8mm t/3.8 Fisheye Lens for Canon with De-clicked Aperture and Removable HoodWide-Angle Lens

LINK (external link)

Offered for $279.
This plus EOS to M adapter (Cheap about 10-15$ on ebay) can serve you very well on EOS-M for those who complain lack of enough exotic lenses for M. Excellent for videophotography specially sport, skating, boarding etc. Additionally if you have another EOS EF,EFs camera, you can use it well on that too.
This is the latest version of this wonderful fisheye lens.
Usually Lightening Deals don't last too long and earlier today EOS-M 22mm lens for $95 was sold out very fast. So look into this if you were waiting for a deal on the lens. But again act fast if you feel price is right.

Cheers.
